The Patel Lab
Certified December, 2024
In the Patel Lab, our research is dedicated to unraveling the intricate mechanistic relationships between stress, stress-related disorders, and their impact on brain structure and function. We place a particular focus on the role of endocannabinoid signaling systems. Our overarching goal is to identify novel molecular targets that can pave the way for innovative therapeutic strategies, while also deepening our systemic understanding of mental health disorders and the factors that contribute to individual vulnerability.
As we pursue these scientific endeavors, we have come to recognize the critical importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship within the research space. Scientific research inherently involves activities that can impact the environment, including continuous energy consumption, the use of chemicals, and the generation of waste and wastewater. As scientists committed to advancing experimental discovery and innovation, we believe it is our responsibility to actively contribute to environmental preservation.
By becoming Green Lab certified, we are not only reducing our environmental footprint but also fostering a culture of awareness about the importance of sustainability in research. Through these efforts, we aim to set an example and inspire others in the scientific community to prioritize environmental responsibility, ensuring that our pursuit of knowledge goes hand in hand with the preservation of our planet.
