The Hao Li Lab
Certified March 2025
In the Hao Li Lab, our research is dedicated to unraveling the intricate mechanistic relationships between cocaine use and the full spectrum of social and emotional behaviors—ranging from social interaction and social memory to reward and avoidance decision-making. By integrating advanced molecular analyses, cutting-edge imaging, and rigorous behavioral assays, we aim to pinpoint the neural circuits and molecular pathways most affected by cocaine exposure. Ultimately, our goal is to identify novel therapeutic targets that can help mitigate the adverse effects of substance use on both the brain and social functioning.
As we pursue these scientific investigations, we also recognize the critical importance of environmental sustainability in research. Laboratory work often involves continuous energy consumption, chemical usage, and waste generation. By actively striving for Green Lab certification, we endeavor to reduce our ecological impact while fostering an ethos of responsibility and stewardship. In doing so, we hope to set a positive example and encourage broader adoption of environmentally conscious practices, ensuring that our quest to advance scientific understanding goes hand in hand with preserving our planet.
