Show your support for Wildcat recycling!

Support RecyclingSince 2010, NU has competed in the EPA Game Day Challenge, a national competition among colleges and universities to promote waste reduction at football games. On Saturday, October 19, at the NU vs. Minnesota game, the Office of Sustainability will work with sustainNU crew volunteers to promote recycling from Wildcat fans in the tailgate lots and stadium aisles. Volunteers will receive a sustainNU crew t-shirt and a meal voucher.

Last year, our recycling rate during the EPA Game Day Challenge was 43 percent, and we had the lowest trash per person of the entire season! We also came in ninth place out of 69 other schools across the country in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions from fans traveling to the game. The NU Wildcat Marching Band supported Game Day Challenge by creating a recycling symbol formation during halftime and NU Athletics ran an audio announcement about the challenge.

This year, fans will notice new column wraps near waste and recycling bins in the stadium - another effort to increase game day recycling awareness!
