MSA offers several Graduate Assistant positions. A graduate assistant is a part-time (20 hrs/week) employee directly supervised by one of our full-time staff members. All Graduate Assistants share a common role structure and core responsibilities, while each position is assigned to a distinct programmatic focus area consisting of specific initiatives, signature events, and ongoing projects coordinated by MSA.

Are you looking to get involved with Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA)? Take a look at some of the different ways that you can engage with the office. 

Office Assistants 

MSA seeks creative, detailed oriented, and energetic Student Office Assistants. This position serves as the first point of contact for students, visitors, faculty and staff at our two spaces: the Multicultural Center and The Black House. 

MSA is not currently hiring, but if you would like to receive an email when applications reopen please fill out this interest form.

Both the Black House and the MCC have computer labs, a copy machine, and fax machine for student use. Our facilities are wireless and students have free printing privileges with a limit of 500 pages per student per quarter.  

MSA is proud to offer the following software systems in the computer labs of both the Black House (1914 Sheridan Rd.) and Multicultural Center (1936 Sheridan Rd.). NCA Drop-In Resume Reviews

  • Northwestern Career Advancement (NCA) has trained Career Ambassadors that will be hosting drop-in resume reviews for students at the MCC and the Black House this year. Stay tuned for dates and times!  
  • NCA assists students in their professional development with one-on-one career advising on topics including resume reviews, interviewing, networking, and navigating the internship or job search. We also provide opportunities to connect with industry professionals and NU alum through programming and career fairs. To learn more about NCA, contact nca@northwestern.edu.

ASLA Academic Tutoring 

  • Academic Support and Learning Advancement (ASLA) peer tutors provide a friendly, collaborative environment where you can come to get help, tackle homework, or study. Peer tutoring is a great way to get support with a specific question or issue, or just talk through course material with others. Tutors are experienced with the course material, and trained to facilitate learning in inclusive, active environments.  
  • Drop-In Tutoring covers courses in Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Economics, Engineering Analysis, Math, Physics, and Statistics.

Funding & Grant Opportunities

InclusionNU  

  • The InclusionNU Fund is a grant distributed by Campus Inclusion and Community (CIC) that supports registered Northwestern University student organizations in implementing programs and initiatives for NU students.

Student Organizations and Activities (SOA)

  • SOA sponsors grants and has information about general student group fundraising available.  

Buffett Institute Event Support 

  • The Buffett Institute offers students a variety of opportunities to deepen their understanding of people and places around the world. You can get involved in a faculty member’s international research project, go abroad, and meet friends who share your interests.
