Third consecutive Wildcat wins Illinois government fellowship

The Office of Fellowships is thrilled to announce that Beverly “Bevy” Daniel (SESP ’20) has been chosen for the 2020–2021 cohort of the James Dunn Fellowship! Next year, Bevy will work for the Governor’s Office of Constituent Affairs, in Springfield, Illinois.

Bevy Daniel Bevy is a senior from McLean, Virginia, double majoring in social policy and international studies, with a certificate in civic engagement. On campus, she has fostered connection in the Northwestern community through her work as a fellow for One Book One Northwestern, a campus tour guide, and an ensemble member of the performance group TBD. As a fellow for the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs, Bevy has organized around various campaigns for justice in Chicago, highlighted by her work to mobilize Northwestern students on behalf of the Illinois Fair Tax.

She is excited to bring her passion for community organizing and experiences interning at various levels of government together to meaningfully connect individuals and policy. Bevy is particularly grateful for the opportunity to work in constituent affairs as, now more than ever, Illinoisans look to state government for clarity and support.

The James Dunn Fellowship provides bright, highly motivated college graduates a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the operations of state government for one year. Fellows are recruited from public and Image of the seal of the state of illinoisprivate colleges and universities throughout the nation.

Bevy is Northwestern’s third consecutive recipient of this award. Last year, fellow SESP grad Michael Deneroff (’19) won the fellowship. Two years ago, Weinberg alum Mackenzie Eisen (’18) garnered the honor.
