The Practice of Showing Up

Workshops on Compassion, Conflict, & Community

The Practice of Showing Up Virtual Workshop Series

How do we navigate the tension between who we are and who the world expects us to be? What does it mean to be accountable—to ourselves and each other? And how can we engage conflict with courage and care?

The Practice of Showing Up is a virtual, three-part workshop series offered each quarter. Designed as a sequence but open to drop-in participation, these sessions invite reflection, conversation, and skill-building around the emotional and interpersonal dimensions of living in community.

Each 90-minute workshop is interactive, practical, and reflective—supporting both personal insight and collective responsibility.

Workshops include:

  • The Call Is Coming from Inside the House: How internalized norms and expectations shape our behaviors and relationships.
  • Accountability in Action: Reimagining accountability as a collaborative and growth-oriented practice.
  • Constructive Conflict: Building skill and comfort around hard conversations and tension in teams.

Full Workshop Descriptions

  • The Call Is Coming from Inside the House

    • Fall Registration
    • This workshop explores the internal tensions we all experience as we navigate the societal expectations tied to the identities we carry. In this session, we will reflect on how societal, cultural, and personal expectations can create dissonance within ourselves, informing how we interact with others. Through guided activities, participants will begin developing tools to address this discomfort and learn strategies to identify and interrupt moments when this internal dissonance impacts their relationships and actions toward others.

  • Accountability in Action

    • Fall Registration
    • Accountability in Action is designed to unpack the complexities around accountability, particularly in organizational settings where power dynamics play a significant role. This session encourages participants to see accountability not as primarily punitive but with the potential to be transformative. It delves into the emotional aspects of being called out, aiming to cultivate a culture where feedback is received with gratitude and a commitment to growth.

  • Constructive Conflict: Skills for Having Hard Conversations

    • Fall Registration
    • Constructive Conflict creates a space for participants to analyze difficult scenarios they may encounter in workplace settings. They will practice strategies for having hard conversations and approaching situations that require them to get uncomfortable and remain curious, especially during a conflict. The core of this workshop is that accountability is a gift and holding people in the ways they have not shown up as their best selves provides them with an opportunity to do better.
