Peter Civetta

An image of Dr. Peter Civetta on a dark pink background. To the right of him is the text "When did you need help?". Under that text is "Dr. Peter Civetta, Director, Office of Undergraduate Research"."When I was a post-doc, I applied for a job that I really wanted and thought I was perfect for. When I didn't get it, I was devastated (and scared because my current job was ending).
I reached out to one of the people who'd interviewed me to get some feedback, and it really helped. I learned more about the position and discovered that even I would have hired the person they chose over me! I asked what I could improve on, and it led to a great conversation around what I was interested in. She let me know about a different job, which I hadn't really been considering. However, by asking for feedback and reflection help, I had a better sense of what I wanted. I applied to and got that job (which eventually turned into the job I have now, which I love). Talking it through (and not stewing alone, which was my previous practice) made all the difference."
