Below are frequently asked questions to the Protect Children on Campus training and the mandated reporter training requirement. Who is required to complete this training?

Per Illinois regulation, all persons required to report child abuse or child neglect are required to complete mandated reporter training every 3 years. University employees are considered mandated reporters and are required to complete this training. 

How often do I need to complete this training?

Northwestern employees will be required to complete this training every 3 years. You will receive a notification from the University Compliance Office and/or myHR Learn when you are due to complete training.

How long will it take to complete this training?

The Protect Children Training Course takes approximately 40-45 minutes to complete. 

I already completed this training while participating in a minors program. Do I still need to complete this training again?

If you have already completed this training within the past three years and received a notification to complete this training, please contact minors@northwestern.edu.

I am having technical problems with the Protect Children on Campus training. What do I do?

The Protect Children on Campus training is administered through an online training vendor,
Vector Solutions. Most common problems accessing Vector on a particular training can be fixed
by:

  • Using a different browser (NOT Edge)
  • Clearing your cache/browsing history and restarting your browser
  • Restarting your computer
  • Ensuring you have clicked all the required buttons/arrows/documents on the training
    screen before determining you cannot move forward. If you are clicking on a document and you still cannot move forward, make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off.

I believe that I have received a training requirement message by mistake. Who do I contact to learn more?

If you have already completed this training within the past three years and received a notification to complete this training, please contact minors@northwestern.edu. If you are a Northwestern employee and did not receive a communication to complete this training, that means that you have already completed your required training, and no action is necessary at this time.
