Connect

Students

Unfortunately, Health Professions Advising (HPA) is unable to offer individual advising to undergraduate students and premedical students outside Northwestern. However, we encourage you to use the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions' (NAAHP) Find an Advisor tool to identify an advisor at your institution or a volunteer advisor to assist you.

Northwestern Students

The HPA team collectively has worked with thousands of medical school applicants, and we would be happy to try to connect you with similarly-identified alumni that might be able to offer insight on their experiences with the medical school application process and medical school as an LGBTQ individual. HPA is actively building a formal list of LGBTQ alums willing to connect with LGBTQ premedical students and applicants. Make an appointment with your advisor or reach out to us via email.

Health Professions Advisors

If you are a health professions advisor interested in learning more about how you can make your office or your work more inclusive and supportive of LGBTQ students, we first encourage you to explore the rest of this site, including the Resources for Advisors page, which features an NAAHP resource co-developed by one of our advisors. Further, if time allows, one of our advisors may be able to speak with you regarding this resource and the research that helped define it. Get in touch.

Medical School Administrators

If you are an administrator at a medical school, whether in admissions or diversity & inclusion, and you are interested in learning more about this resource or would like to discuss ways your institution might increase its inclusiveness and support for LGBTQ applicants, please get in touch and we will accommodate such requests as time allows.
