Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accountability (IDEA)

Education and Training

The Journey Ahead

We are in the early stages of this digital journey, and we invite you to be an integral part of it. Over the course of the academic year, this page will be continually updated to include an expanding array of resources, educational workshops, initiatives, and projects that align with our mission and vision. Moreover, we are excited to offer multiple avenues for community collaboration, both within Northwestern and with external partners.

Mission

The IDEA Education and Training Team is committed to nurturing a culture of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accountability (IDEA) at Northwestern University, rooted in principles of dialogical learning (a two-way process of teaching and learning where everyone is both a teacher and a learner). We believe that education should be a co-creation of knowledge, rather than a top-down imposition of ideas. Utilizing participatory methodologies, we empower our learners to critically engage with their own experiences and those of others. Through experiential learning and transformative dialogue, we aim to shift the perception of diversity from a 'problem to solve' to an 'opportunity to seize,' thereby serving as a fulcrum for innovation and participatory action.
