Meet the Tutors

Drop-In Peer Tutors are Northwestern undergraduate students who have taken and done well in the courses they tutor. This requirement for drop-in tutors helps them be familiar with the course content, the professor, and the strategies that helped them succeed in the course.

Here are a few of the helpful tutors you will find during drop-in hours!

Paul Bernhard

Paul Bernhard

Tutor Subject: General Chemistry

Hi everybody! My name is Paul Bernhard and I am a general chemistry tutor for this academic year. I'm a third year Biology major with minors in English Literature, Data Science, and (maybe) chemistry! Currently I am thinking about doing an MD/PhD program where I can fulfill my dream of becoming a physician, while also getting to continue doing research in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology, possibly in the realm of RNA structural and functional dynamics! Outside of tutoring and Northwestern courses, I am frequently learning and participating in various trivia nights and events (specifically Bob's on Tuesday nights), reading science fiction novels, watching every movie imaginable, and off-trail hiking and camping! I'm very excited to meet all of you!

Jennifer Chiang

Jennifer Chiang

Tutor Subject: EA Sequence

Hi, everyone, my name is Jennifer Chiang! I am a senior majoring in Statistics and double-minoring in Materials Science and Computer Science, and am planning on going to grad school to continue my studies in statistics. Outside of academics, I love solving jigsaw puzzles, going to the beach, and just chilling with friends. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Jazmyn Lu (she/they)

Jazmyn Lu (she/they)

Tutor Subject: EA Sequence

Hi everyone! My name is Jazmyn and I am a senior in McCormick double majoring in Materials Science and Statistics. I'm from California but moved to Dalian, China where I spent most of my childhood. After undergrad, I plan on pursuing graduate school in Materials Science, hopefully studying something in soft materials. On campus, I'm very involved in Concrete Canoe, MatSci Club, and WNUR. Outside of academics, I enjoy all things fiber crafts (knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch), biking around Evanston, and playing music. Super excited to meet you!

Julie Paska (she/her)

Julie Paska (she/her)

Tutor Subject: General Chemistry

Hi friends! My name is Julie Paska (she/her), and I'll be tutoring GenChem for ASLA this year! I am a second year majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology, and I hope to attend medical school one day. I decided to tutor chemistry because I love how interrelated topics in chemistry are with topics in other natural sciences, such as bio and psych. Besides my academic endeavors, you can spot me grabbing a poke bowl at Pono Ono, reading feminist prose (Atwood is my favorite!), or chilling with fellow members of NU's American Medical Women's Association. I am also a proud FGLI student, a daughter of two Polish Immigrants, and a resident of the greater Chicagoland area. Can't wait to meet and work with all of y'all!

Nikhil Sriram

Nikhil Sriram

Tutor Subject: Organic Chemistry

Hi everyone! My name is Nikhil (he/him), and I am a third-year majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Global Health Studies and Data Science. I plan on attending medical school after graduation but will be taking a gap year prior to matriculation to work in consulting. Outside of academics, I am involved in various global health and health education organizations on campus, research, and am on a South Asian dance team. I also love to exercise and play basketball! Looking forward to meeting you all!

Sheena Tan (she/her)

Sheena Tan (she/her)

Tutor Subject: General Chemistry

Hi, I'm Sheena, and I'm a junior studying psychology, statistics, and Asian American studies. My interests over the years have led me through everything from journalism to chemistry to data science. Outside the classroom, you can find me convincing friends to watch the sunset on the lakefill, talking about race, or working on as many passion projects as I can. Can't wait to see you in Shepard!

Tutor Subject: Statistics

Hello! My name is Lex, and I’m a drop-in peer tutor for statistics. I am a senior majoring in cognitive science. (Like many northwestern students), I’m planning to go into consulting after graduation, and I’ll be working at BCG in Chicago. Besides tutoring, I’m also an RA for Schapiro Hall, involved Women in Business, and I work in a Kellogg research lab. I also love running, cooking, reading, and spending time with my family. Look forward to working with all of you!
