Support and Scholarship
The Women’s Center supports faculty, graduate and undergraduate researchers interested in gender or feminist research through residency, methodological discussion, and public history. We uplift the work of Northwestern scholars through partnership and help faculty, students and staff to foster long-term collaborative relationships that produce both a higher standard of scholarship and an improved culture of well-being across our campuses.
Thematic Programming
The Feminist in Residence Program invites community-based activists to campus for one academic year to further their work in gender justice through incubation of a project, artistic practice, or skillset while engaging members of the Northwestern community.
Each year, the Women's Center selects an annual theme for its programming. Past themes have ranged from disability justice to harm reduction.
The theme for the 2024-25 year is "Earth is a Relationship." It focuses on feminist ecologies of survival.
Women's Center staff share expertise on topics such as gender equality, gender and sexuality studies, sexual violence prevention and more, both within and beyond the campus community. Our staff also advise Northwestern's largest and longest standing student feminist organization and for the HerCampus publication.
Take a GPS-guided audio tour of the Evanston campus that highlights the histories of women trailblazers, marks key sites of progress, and shares current-day resources.
