Read _Marsha_ with us!

the cover of the book Marsha by Tourmaline, includes an image of Marsha, a Black woman with a big smile and crown of flowersFor the 2025-2026 academic year we are engaging with the theme, Legacies of Living Free, in part by connecting deeply and collectively with a single text, Marsha: The Joy and Defiance of Marsha P. Johnson by Tourmaline.

There are two opportunities to engage with us and with the book in a group setting. One is geared toward students and taking place on Wednesday evenings in person at our Evanston center. A second option happens during the lunch hour on three separate days; this timing is selected to create an ideal time for staff and faculty to gather virtually. HOWEVER, both opportunities are open to all Northwestern community members, no matter their role on campus. We have found that students and staff typically have different preferred meeting times but we absolutely encourage you all to mix it up and get to know one another over a great book. Join us during the hour that makes the most sense for you.

We also have a limited number of free copies of the book available to group discussion participants. Please register early and indicate your desire to receive a book at either the Evanston or Chicago pickup locations.
