Family Fun Day FAQs

Who is invited to Family Fun Day?

All Northwestern-affiliated caregivers and their families: staff, students, faculty. You NEED TO BRING YOUR WILDCARD. We are not able to support an event open to the public.

Who can I bring?

The people who feel like family to you. We need A wildcard but we aren’t going to police the many sizes and shapes family can take.

What can I bring?

Anything safe to have. The OWF is buying you dinner from Hecky's and Tomate Fresh. Yum! But if you aren't sure if these options will meet your needs, please feel free to bring your own snacks, food, drinks, etc. Kids can bring things to entertain themselves that aren't too disruptive. No waterguns, please.
We are working on getting some treats available that may not be in budget in which case you might want a card or cash for ice cream. No promises...tbd!

How is accessibility being considered?

This event takes place on a lawn. We have a metal wheelchair ramp (like the ones at the beach) which we will roll out near the dining area. The portapotties are ADA compliant as is the first floor restroom at the women's center across the street. We don't have interpreters hired as we don't anticipate much in the way of presentations. There will be a variety of kids activities--a spin the wheel game, arts and crafts, bouncy house. We do not anticipate any flashing lights; depending on attendance, it may be noisy.

What if I don't have children but want to learn more about OWF, ANUW, GPP, or the WC?

You are welcome to come just to meet up. You are also welcome to stop by the Women's Center Monday through Thursday, or to reach ou to specific organizations. owf@northwestern.eduanuw@northwestern.edu, womenscenter@northwestern.edu.

Will my dietary needs be met?

Maybe. We are using two (local, delicious, women-owned) vendors to provide dinner for all: Hecky's BBQ and vegetarian options from Tomate Fresh. We would love to be able to account for allergies, kosher, and halal needs, but with events this size, that is tricky. Please plan accordingly.

Will there be restrooms?

Yes. There will be two ADA-compliant (and yes, woman-owned) portable restrooms at the lawn and there are two single use restrooms in the Women's Center across the street. The downstairs Women's Center restroom contains a changing table. All restrooms are all gender.

Will there be a changing table?

Yep. At the women's center.

What can my family and I do at Family Fun Day?

Eat dinner, meet your colleagues, check our resources. Younger ones may prefer: bouncy house, facepainting, arts and crafts, general frolicking (not age restricted).

Where can I park?

At 2000 Sheridan Road, across from the event. This parking lot, like many around campus, is not permitted on the weekend. Once it is full, you cn look around campus for similar lots or use the parking garage near the segal center.
