About Us

What is Safe Ride?

Safe Ride is a service provided to members of the Northwestern community as a safe and free alternative to walking alone after dark. The service is staffed by student employees and administrators dedicated to enhancing campus safety.

Get started

Need a ride? Contact Us or use the TransLoc Rider App. Read more about Getting a Ride.

Safe Ride is not a taxi. Please expect a reasonable wait when requesting a ride, as we serve the entire Northwestern community. Please remember that Safe Ride doesn't have the capacity to provide rides to every one of our students so always plan ahead.

Safe transit options

Safe Ride should always be used in conjunction with other safe travel options such as walking in groups, using the Northwestern Shuttle Service, or using one of the local Taxi services.

Whenever you’re walking at night stay alert, know your surroundings, and become familiar with the locations of Emergency Police “Blue Light” telephones (call boxes).
