Photo of Meredith EllisonMeredith is a graduating senior majoring in history with a certificate in civic engagement. Born in Washington, DC, she is interested in housing, transportation, and food equity in cities. At Northwestern, Meredith founded and was president of the Swing Left club. She was also a research assistant in the history department through the Leopold Fellowship, ran with the Northwestern track club, and wrote for North by Northwestern magazine.

As a PHENND fellow, Meredith will work at a community food pantry for one year to create a shared service model for the organization’s expansion while also conducting community outreach. She will also participate in monthly professional development workshops with the other PHENND fellows. Meredith hopes to gain a greater understanding of urban food insecurity and nonprofit management through the fellowship, and she plans to apply these skills and experiences toward her goal of becoming an urban planner.
