Woman's Edition of the Student Paper
Student newspaper front page
Although Northwestern women had previously contributed to the student yearbook and newspaper, they made news on April 9, in 1896 for publishing a “Woman’s Edition” of the student paper, completely written, edited, and illustrated by women. This was unusual enough for the Chicago Tribune to report on it under the headline “Women Make a Paper.” An annual “Woman’s Edition” was produced almost every year until 1915.
