Undergraduate students in the School of Professional Studies can expect the following tuition and fees for the 2016 - 2017 school year. Increases should be expected in subsequent years. Please note: An SPS student registered for a course in another school of the University pays the tuition charged by that school.

Tuition$1,811/unit

Non-credit Audit Fee$906/unit

Auditors must pay the full fee at registration.

Visiting Scholar$1,999/unit

For students visiting from another institution.

Lab FeeVaries by Lab

Non-refundable lab fee:

  • Art: $89/course
  • Computer Information Systems: $89/course
  • Microbiology: $50/course
  • Science: $299/course

Annual Health and Hospitalization Premium$3,799/year

Charged to students who opt-in to the Northwestern plan. All full-time Northwestern students are required to have health insurance coverage either through the Northwestern University/Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan or the student’s own health insurance carrier. Students in part-time programs are exempted from mandatory enrollment in the NU/Aetna plan, but may voluntarily enroll. Contact student.insurance@northwestern.edu for more information.

Employer reimbursement

Northwestern University's employer reimbursement plan is designed for students in the Northwestern University School of Professional Studies and in the Kellogg School of Management’s part-time MBA program whose employers offer reimbursement for tuition charges. It allows participants to defer their tuition payments to Northwestern until after the term has been completed.
