Robbery Near Evanston Campus
A female Northwestern University student was robbed of her cell phone, keys and credit cards by two men early Friday while she was walking on Garrett Place near the Evanston campus. The victim was not injured, police said.
The student was walking eastbound on Garrett Place at approximately 1:55 a.m. on Friday, May 24, near the corner of Orrington Avenue when she was approached by two male suspects. One of the men threatened her and demanded she give them her phone.
The victim gave the man her phone, and then the offender threatened her and demanded her wallet. The victim told the man she did not have any money but turned over a pouch containing her credit cards and some identification cards.
The suspects then took her keys and walked away northbound on Orrington Avenue. The victim then walked to her residence, where she notified police.
A detailed description of the offenders could not be obtained. No weapons were displayed, and the victim was not injured. Both Evanston Police and University Police responded but were unsuccessful in locating the offenders.
University Police reminds all community members to report suspicious activities immediately to the University Police or the Evanston Police by dialing 911 or by utilizing a Blue Light Emergency Telephone.
