Avoid walking home alone, in the dark, or late at night. Safe Ride drivers provide rides to and from campus within our Evanston boundaries. Safe Ride operates from 7pm - 3am, seven days a week when classes are in session. Closed summer session and during University Holidays.
Getting a Ride
Safe Ride's final day of operation for the Winter Quarter is Saturday, March 23.

Daily 7pm - 3am, when classes are in session. New rides may not be accepted after 2:20am.
Safe Ride's covers Evanston from Central Street (north boundary) to Oakton Street/South Boulevard (south boundary) and Green Bay Road/Ashland Avenue (west boundary) to Lake Michigan. See a map of our coverage area.

Safe Ride Basics
The average wait time is 10-15 minutes, with longer times on weekends and during bad weather. Please be outside or within the visual range of your pickup location.
We are now accepting applications for student workers to work as drivers and dispatchers. Work-study applicants are accepted.
Summer Session Rides
Safe Ride does not operate during summer session or University Holidays. Other safe travel options the university shuttle, NU Safe Walk or public transportation.
