Willmoore Kendall was an American conservative writer and a professor of political philosophy, noted for his views on the meaning and nature of the American political tradition. During World War II, he was appointed chief, Inter-American Division, Office of Reports and Estimates, for the CIA. With a PhD from the University of Illinois, Kendall then served as a part of the Yale University faculty from 1948 to 1961, a tenure marked by considerable turmoil spurred by his conservative convictions. He later taught at the University of Dallas and founded its politics program. His publications include important writing on John Locke and majority rule. Kendall passed away in 1967.
