Dulce Castañeda graduated in 2016 with a double major in communication studies and sociology and completed the certificate in undergraduate leadership. During her Clark and Hinman Foundation Fellowship in 2014, she volunteered at a shelter for young girls in Toluca, Mexico, where she taught reading, writing, English, and math. Since 2016, Castañeda has been the community assistance director for the City of Crete, Nebraska, her hometown, where she focuses on newcomer inclusion and integration practices.
