Charles Barber had a long career as a lawyer, representing Pakistan for the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty with India. He later joined the Justice Department as an assistant to the solicitor general and argued before the Supreme Court. Barber worked as an executive in the metals and mining industry and also as a public defender for the New York Stock Exchange, heading its regulatory advisory committee. He served in the U.S. Navy as an aide to a commander in the Pacific during World War II. Barber passed away in 2013.
