Facilities Connect Migration
November 14, 2025
Facilities Connect will be unavailable from 5:00 p.m. Central on Friday, November 14 through Sunday, November 16. It will be available on Monday, November 17 on its new server at northwestern.tririga.io. Call NUPD for any urgent matters during the planned outage.
Evanston Power Outage
September 13, 2025
RESOLVED. This morning's storm interrupted power to the Evanston Campus Central Utility Plant. Cooling and heat capacity has been significantly reduced, and may impact air conditioning and hot water in campus buildings. Crews are mobilizing to restore services.
Evanston Campus Cooling Repairs
June 20, 2025
RESOLVED. The Evanston campus Central Utility Plant is completing emergency repairs on the cooling system. Cooling capacity is reduced in buildings on campus. We appreciate your patience while the system is restored. Updates will be posted over the course of the day. UPDATE: System appears to be restored and operating properly. Please call Facilities Customer Service with any residual issues.
Campus Drive Road Closure

The Central Utility Plant will be closing an isolated portion of Campus Drive on April 23rd immediately east of the Central Utility Plant. This one day day road closure will accommodate a construction crane that will block the roadway. Pedestrian walkways will remain open, and the work will not cause any disruption to utility services. Parking and loading docks at University Library will not be affected. Please direct any questions about the work to project manager Kory Burton at kory@northwestern.edu.
Allen Center Road Closure

The Central Utility Plant project will be closing an isolated portion of Campus Drive on April 3rd immediately east of the Central Utility Plant. This 1-day road closure will accommodate a construction crane that will block the roadway. Pedestrian walkways will remain open, and the work will not cause any disruption to utility services. Steam Plume Visibility Jan 28 - 30

A steam plume may be visible above the Central Utility Plant January 28th through January 30th as workers install new equipment. Work will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day. Pedestrian walkways will remain open, and the work will not cause any disruption to utility services. Parking and loading docks at University Library will not be affected.
Electric Load Curtailment, Both Campuses

Com Ed completed a 2-hour electric load curtailment on Wednesday, Dec 11 at 11 a.m. Building occupancy and use were not affected.

Scheduled Athletics Facility work August 5 - 16
August 5, 2024
From August 5 - 16, the lakefront path and parking areas near the athletics facility will be impacted by restrictions and closures, due to construction and gamedays. On Aug.12, Campus Drive in front of the Walter Athletics Center will be closed. From Aug. 12 - 15 most of parking lot 122 will be closed to install temporary fencing and unload equipment.
Central Utility Plant Stabilization Project
July 11, 2024
A short portion of Campus Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic between Northwestern Place and the University Library from May 20 through the week of August 26th while contractors replace equipment in the Central Utility Plant. Workers will use a crane to lift the equipment into place. Pedestrian walkways will remain open throughout the project, and the work will not cause any disruption to utility services. Parking and loading docks at University Library will not be affected.
Allen Center Path Closure
January 29, 2024
The path between the Allen Center and the cooling pond will be closed from Jan. 29 through mid-February. The bridge at the south end of the lakefill will remain closed until Feb. 7. During this time, pedestrians can access the lakefill via Campus Drive, just south of the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion. Detour signs will be posted.
