The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion leads initiatives and guides policy at the enterprise-level to create an increasingly inclusive, diverse, equitable, and welcoming environment for all Northwestern community members – including students, faculty, and staff.

Who We Are

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion supports Northwestern’s twelve schools and colleges across three campuses – Evanston, Chicago, and Qatar. We are committed to advancing an institutional infrastructure that values inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability (IDEA) as fundamental principles. We work towards dismantling barriers and creating pathways for underrepresented and marginalized communities at the enterprise level. Through educational resources, policy advocacy, and strategic partnerships we utilize evidence-based practices to further cultivate a university climate where every member of the Northwestern community can thrive.

What We Do

  • Spearhead efforts in creating an institutional infrastructure that is sustainable for a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture
  • Provide training, guidance, and educational opportunities for university community members.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and report on university progress of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
  • Develop innovative solutions to address discrimination, marginalization, and disparities among underrepresented communities.
  • Create avenues to enhance recruitment and retention of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Facilitate collaboration and strategic partnerships with various University partners.
