Northwestern Increases Funding for Veterans Education

In recognition of National Military Appreciation Month, Northwestern University will make contributions to a number of veterans organizations and institutions. As part of this commitment to veterans, Northwestern also will increase its financial support for the Yellow Ribbon Program, which provides funding for military veterans to attend Northwestern, University officials announced today.

Northwestern will provide an additional $100,000 in funding for the program, which will enable more military veterans to enroll in Northwestern's programs.

Veterans Find a Fit at Northwestern

NUVA provides Veterans access to the resources, support and advocacy they have earned, deserve and require to succeed in higher education, to achieve their academic goals, and to gain meaningful employment following graduation.

NUVA is an officially chartered organization of Student Veterans of America

AmeriCorps Vista

The AmeriCorps will assist in building capacity for Northwestern University Veterans Association (NUVA) and help answer any questions regarding Veterans Affairs on and off campus. The VISTA will that they can to answer questions or direct student veterans to campus partners who may best assist students including assistance with financial aid, mental health resources, community resources, classroom aid, etc.

Career Resources for Veterans

Veterans have many state and federal and local career resources. If you are a veteran, Northwestern Career Advancement can help you to help you to translate your military experience to skills desired in other industries.

Financial Aid

Students in approved programs at Northwestern University may use VA educational benefits as well as other federal, state and private aid programs toward the cost of their programs. Veterans can contact their program’s Office of Financial Aid for more information.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS serves as the primary mental health service at Northwestern University with offices on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses. CAPS provides a set of core services, including clinical services, educational workshops, and consultation with Northwestern Veterans. CAPS provides confidential counseling and supports our strong Veteran population at Northwestern. You can easily make an appointment on their site.
