Amy earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from George Mason University and her master's degree in social psychology from the University of Connecticut. As a graduate research assistant at the University of Connecticut and undergraduate research assistant at George Mason University, Amy conducted quantitative research on a variety of topics related to stigma and self, inter-group relations, power dynamics and political psychology.

As a graduate student at University of Connecticut, she taught undergraduate classes ranging from theories of personality to research methods and quantitative statistics. Prior to joining Northwestern in 2017, Amy's professional experiences include working in a variety of capacities, including database management and data analytics.
