Special Event Liability
All external organizations or individuals hosting events on university premises must maintain insurance coverage that meets the minimum requirements outlined in the Insurance Matrix for Campus Space Use. Proof of coverage, in the form of a Certificate of Insurance, should be provided prior to the event.
Insurance coverage for outside organizations or performers without existing liability insurance may be obtained through any licensed insurance providers that meet university standards. Two options for obtaining appropriate event liability coverage are provided below though outside organizations are not required to use these programs. Please note that not all events may be eligible for coverage through these options.
Tenants’ and Users’ Liability Insurance Policy (TULIP)
Offered through Arthur J. Gallagher, TULIP provides event-specific coverage for eligible activities. This program is intended solely for use of campus facilities.
- Visit tulip.ajgrms.com
- Click on the "Quick Quote" tab.
- Select the state in which the event will be held and choose “Illinois”.
- Select the entity and choose “Northwestern University”.
- Continue through the Get a Quote paged process.

Special Events Insurance
Available through Market Access Corporation (MAC), a coverholder for Lloyd's of London. This option supports events that may not be eligible for TULIP and can also be used for off-campus facilities.
