Key student insights

Northwestern students major in a wide range of disciplines and are interested in many different career paths. More than 90 percent of undergraduate applicants rank in the top 10 percent of their high school classes, and Northwestern’s National Merit Scholar enrollment rate has recently ranked among the nation’s highest.

Northwestern is home to more than 8,000 full-time undergraduates and 8,000 full-time graduate students. Including part-time students, the University's total enrollment is approximately 22,000. Beyond Northwestern showcases the career outcomes of the most recent Class of 2024. The Six Month First Destination Report (PDF) highlights where the undergraduate class of 2024 is now based on industry, salary, and geographic location. Additionally, the report shows how our students set themselves up for success while at Northwestern. Of the respondents to the 2024 Post-Graduation Survey:

  • 92% engaged in one or more experiential learning opportunities.
  • 77% participated in one or more internship experiences.
  • 66% participated in one or more research experiences.
  • 90% were “deeply” involved in one or more student organizations, clubs, or varsity athletics.
