Serving as a crossroads, clearing house, and testing ground, the Institute nurtures ideas that transform into cutting-edge research and dynamic courses. We cultivate this work through our annual fellowship program for faculty working in the humanities; our co-sponsorship of numerous workshops, reading groups, performances, film presentations, readings, and lectures; and our first-year honors program (the Kaplan Humanities Scholars Program). The Institute also reaches through and beyond disciplines at Northwestern by hosting public humanities programs and training opportunities through our Public Humanities Graduate Research Workshop and our partnership with the the Chicago Humanities Festival. |

Handshake is NCA's primary tool for communicating with you about the wide array of career-related events, workshops, and opportunities to help you in your career planning and searches. |

Imagine PhD | ImaginePhD is a free online career exploration and planning tool for PhD students and postdocs in the humanities and social sciences. InterSECT Job Simulations | InterSECT engages with an individual’s interests and extrapolates these interests to positions in actual professional settings in industry, academia, and government sectors. While the simulations do not evaluate an individual’s performance on the task, they offer insight into the specific, real-life duties of varying career paths. By completing job simulations, you can consider which careers are of interest to you and use provided resources to explore future courses of action by following up with professionals in the career field. |

Searle Center for Advancing Learning and Teaching | The Searle Center organizes programs and workshops that help enhance your teaching and develop new teaching and in-classroom strategies. Searle also provides workshops on writing teaching statements for graduate students and postdocs interested in pursuing a career in academia. |
