ISEN 408 - Finance Fundamentals for Energy and Sustainability

Synopsis:
Finance Fundamentals will provide a broad, comprehensive overview of the full range of topics, theories, and current developments in corporate finance. Topics will include, but will not limited to, time value of money, discounting techniques, stock and bond valuation, capital budgeting, firm valuation and decision making. The course will involve various calculation exercises, case studies, videos, links to relevant sites, summary industry information, and current events that illustrate course topics. While theory will be covered, the course is oriented to the practical aspects of corporate finance.

  • Developing knowledge of basic principles, topics, theories, and current developments in corporate finance 
  • Calculating solutions to basic mathematical problems in corporate finance 
  • Understanding risk and reward in finance 
  • Creating value through sound, ethical financial decisions 
  • Attaining a comfort level in discourse on topics in corporate finance
