Northwestern University’s Master of Science in Energy and Sustainability (MSES) prepares its students for leadership roles at the dynamic intersection of technology, business, and public policy in energy and sustainability.
MSES graduates emerge as marketable and highly sought-after change agents, leveraging their program experience to secure impactful jobs with some of the largest energy and sustainability firms in the world.

Interdisciplinary core sequence focused on technology, economics, and public policy
Choose from three specialization tracks in sustainable and energy finance, energy technology, and sustainability
Required team practicum capstone project with public/private partner organization
Cohort-based program comprising 40-50 students annually
Varied academic and professional backgrounds and interests, spanning engineering, physical and social sciences, business, and humanities
Gender-balanced, demographically-diverse, globally-representative
Three annual admissions round deadlines: Dec. 15, Feb. 15, and May 1
Highly encouraged to apply in earlier rounds for preferred access to grant funding, to allow time for scholarship applications, and to seek summer internships
