About Hazing Prevention
In 2016, a hazing prevention task force composed of students, professional staff, and other constituents was created to:
- Provide intentional collaborative interactions between Northwestern students, administrators, coaches, faculty and staff that work with or are engaged in student clubs/teams in areas of co-curricular activities and sports teams where hazing has been or can be present.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of a prevention framework and develop the skills to utilize the framework to advance our prevention efforts.
- Conduct an environmental scan focused on prevention, intervention, and resources/education while identifying gaps in our approach
- Research/evaluate national and state trends in hazing prevention as well as university/college hazing policy and prevention practices
- Recommend prevention/intervention initiatives and campus-wide implementation plan
- The task force’s aim is to improve the University’s hazing education efforts and reduce the potential for harm caused by hazing.
