Cultivating strong relationships with the federal government
Government Relations monitors legislation of interest to the University, maintains strategic relationships with Congress, and executive agencies, and pursues federal policy outcomes that benefit Northwestern. We serve as a resource for the Northwestern community and federal officials by providing expertise on policies affecting higher education, federally funded research and regulatory issues.

As the top recipient of federal research dollars in Illinois, Northwestern has a broad federal relations agenda. The office works closely with national higher education associations and coalitions to advocate on behalf of the University’s agenda in Washington.
