Assistant Foreman Locksmith (Posted 7/25/24)

Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of skilled tasks proficiently in the maintenance and repair of university security access systems as well as occasional work relating to the carpentry trade. Manages all shop-related work and personnel associated with the maintenance, upkeep, and renewal of the Chicago campus buildings’ which includes the rebuild and installation of locks, doorknobs, door closers, panic hardware, related mechanical equipment and door hardware. May repair steel doors, hinges, desk, file cabinet and office furniture locks... Coordinates and implements various maintenance and related projects which includes estimating scope and costs and supervising multiple crews. Provides direction to staff with responsibility for managing and evaluating performance. Ensures timely completion of all shop-related paperwork and electronic approvals including service requests and timesheets. Cultivates good customer relations.

As the Supervisor of the team responsible for the purchasing of maintenance material for the Chicago and Evanston Campuses, they have oversight of the team and the purchase order life cycle. The Director of Project Management will manage multiple related teams of managers and professionals responsible for the capital projects delivery process, from the design phase through commissioning and close-out. Provides day to day business operational oversight of financial, budget, contracting and scheduling for all capital projects. Job Summary:

Reporting to and under the direction of the Evanston campus Chief and Foreman Electricians, manages a portion of the shop staff in the safe and efficient operation of all building electrical and lighting systems, including campus distributed utilities and equipment. Supervises and coordinates, as well as performs, installations, maintenance, and operations of all electrical equipment. This position ensures all campus electrical distribution systems, building systems, and associated equipment are maintained and operated properly and in compliance with University policies and applicable codes.

Must be available and capable of responding to irregularities during evenings and weekends ensuring 24 hour, 7 day per week coverage.
