Update from the Provost

Dear Colleagues,

For the past year and a half, Sarah Wake has done an outstanding job in a dual role for the University as associate vice president for equity and associate general counsel. As associate vice president for equity, she has led the Office of Equity through a period of great transition during which the office has significantly revised policies and procedures based on feedback from our students, faculty and staff; enhanced resources available to the community; and grown the staff in important areas – including accommodating individuals with disabilities. Her energy and vision for the office has transformed it into a major asset for the University and its students, faculty and staff.

Sarah has let Stephanie Graham and me know she would like to relinquish her role as associate vice president for equity and return to a full-time role as associate general counsel effective January 2020. I respect her decision and have reluctantly approved her request. I am bolstered by the knowledge that she will still be working on related legal issues of discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct and will continue to be available as counsel on equity-related issues.

If you have any questions about the Office of Equity please visit its website or contact Colleen Johnston. We will shortly begin the search for Sarah’s successor as associate vice president for equity.

Sincerely,

Jonathan
