Michael Cowan's professional journey is marked by an unwavering dedication to the preservation and celebration of cultural history. His meticulous craftsmanship and deep understanding of his field have positioned him as an invaluable asset within the museum industry.

Through his innovative approaches to curation and exhibit development, Michael has redefined how stories of heritage are shared with the public. His work seamlessly blends traditional techniques with modern technologies, ensuring that the narratives he curates resonate with audiences of all generations. He retired after over 18 years from the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry.

Though retired, Michael's passion for cultural preservation has not waned. He continues to mentor emerging professionals in the museum field, sharing his wealth of knowledge and expertise. His legacy includes not only the exhibits he helped bring to life but also the inspiration he provided to those who worked alongside him.

Michael brought several African artifacts, including metal slave shackles and detailed accounts of slave owners, to Northwestern University’s BPN first Juneteenth celebration. He shared his story through these items, offering a poignant glimpse into history.
