Reparations Stakeholders Authority Evanston
The RSAE is an independent non-profit organization exclusively focused on shaping the reparations landscape within Evanston. Our fundamental role involves identifying and authorizing funding recommendations for the Evanston Reparations Community Fund, administered by the Evanston Community Foundation (ECF).
First Repair
FirstRepair was founded by Robin Rue Simmons, a former Evanston, Illinois alderman and the architect of the nation’s first government-funded reparations program. Robin’s “solutions only” leadership style has inspired the services of FirstRepair including sharing best practices, creating tools, and developing a viable model to advance local reparations policy. Our knowledge network includes seasoned experts and social innovators with a proven commitment to reparations, racial justice, and Black community empowerment. Our services will include workshops, educational symposiums, research, stakeholder development and policy design for local government bodies and institutions.
Shorefront
Shorefront is an archival institution dedicated to illuminating the rich tapestry of Black history on Chicago’s suburban North Shore. Founded on the three core principles — Collect, Preserve, and Educate — we aim to create a dynamic space for reflection and growth.
An archive for the people, by the people; we safeguard narratives that have too frequently been consigned to obscurity. Through our efforts to unearth the stories of previously unrecognized community members, we breathe life into their legacies, ensuring they endure for generations yet to come.
