Who do I contact if I've lost something on one of the shuttles?
What shuttles are available on the Chicago campus? Where are the shuttle pick-up locations?
Train Station Shuttle travels to the various Metra stations in the downtown area. There are two pick-up and four drop-off locations on Northwestern's Chicago campus. The pick-up locations are in front of the Stone Pavilion at 320 E. Huron and the NMH employee entrance on Fairbanks between Huron and Erie. See more information on the Train Station Shuttle.
Intercampus Shuttle travels between the Chicago campus and the Evanston campus. In Chicago, it can be boarded at the Ward Building at 303 E. Chicago Avenue. See more information on the Intercampus Shuttle.
What shuttles are available in Evanston? Where are the shuttle pick-up locations?
Evanston Loop and Campus Loop Shuttles provide transportation around the Evanston campus during evening and early morning hours. The Evanston Loop Shuttle operates between the campus and downtown Evanston. The Campus Loop connects the Northern and Southern ends of campus. All of the shuttles listed above offer several pick-up locations around the Evanston campus. With the exception of the Athletic Event Shuttles (which lists its pick-up locations on the NU Athletics webpage), a map of all pick-up locations can be accessed from the pages linked above.
What does riding the shuttle cost?
Many of the shuttles are free to anyone displaying a valid WildCARD:
- Evanston Loop and Campus Loop
- Frostbite Shuttles
- Chicago SafeRide Shuttle, unless taken to the train station, which requires a ticket (see below)

Can children ride the shuttles?
The NU shuttle system is intended to transport faculty, staff, and students, and our highest priority is to ensure passenger safety on every trip. Due to space constraints and safety concerns, we discourage use of the shuttles to transport children, but we understand it may be necessary on occasion. We encourage parents to be considerate of other riders and adhere to these rules when traveling with children:
- Children must be accompanied by an adult with a valid ID/shuttle pass. The adult must remain with the child for the duration of the trip.
- Children must remain seated for the duration of the trip.
- All strollers must be folded before boarding the bus and strollers must be kept clear of aisles, doorways, and emergency exits. Strollers may not be placed on the bus dashboard.
- Large strollers are prohibited during commuting hours due to crowding. Before 9:30 am and between 4:00-6:30 pm, only compactly folded strollers (e.g., umbrella strollers) are allowed.
- Priority seating areas are intended for seniors and customers with disabilities. If these seats are not in use, the area may be used for riders traveling with strollers. Please yield this space if a senior or a customer with disabilities wishes to board.
Can students obtain a U-Pass?
Northwestern University does not offer the U-Pass to all students. Each school determines whether or not to extend U-Pass benefits to students. Currently, the following schools offer the U-Pass program:
- The Graduate School
- School of Law
- Medill School of Journalism
- School of Physical Therapy
- Select McCormick Professional Master's Programs: Robotics, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Engineering Management, and Analytics (please note that only the McCormick MS programs listed currently offer the U-Pass)
If you are a student in one of these schools you must contact the administrative offices at your school in order to obtain your U-Pass.

Yes, the Intercampus shuttle provides students service between the Evanston and Chicago campus, which is located only a few blocks from Michigan Avenue and the Water Tower. Students must then use the CTA to reach their final destination in the downtown area. View the Intercampus Shuttle schedule.

Is there a shuttle to football and basketball games for parents?
Are animals allowed on the shuttles?
The NU shuttle system is intended to transport faculty, staff, and students. Our highest priority is to ensure passenger safety on every trip. To ensure a positive experience for all riders:
- Service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act while accompanying persons with disabilities are permitted on the shuttles. The dog must be housebroken and must be kept under control by a harness, leash, or other tether, unless these devices interfere with the service dog's work or the individual's disability prevents using these devices. In cases where a harness, leash, or other tether cannot be used, the owner must maintain control of the service animal at all times.
- A person with a disability may be asked to remove a service dog from the premises, under the following conditions:
- the dog is out of control or aggressive and the owner does not take effective action to control it
- the dog is not housebroken
- the dog is physically ill
- No pets are permitted on shuttles at any time.
