African Students Association

ASA is a student organization that promotes African Awareness to the greater Northwestern community. Our main goal is to provide a deeper understanding of the roots and histories of African culture.

The purpose of Alianza, the largest Latinx student organization at Northwestern University, is to unite and support its members to work towards the advancement of an empowered, productive, Latinx presence at this institution. Alianza is a cultural, educational, and social programming body, which also serves as a vehicle for activism.

Alliance of African Scholars

The Alliance of African Scholars (AAS) seeks to unite African students across varied academic disciplines, creating spaces for critical discourse and activism regarding African representations, social movements, and current events. As a community, AAS interrogates dominant African narratives to challenge the manner in which students, professors, and administrators engage Africa. Accordingly, AAS works to create and reform spaces to celebrate dynamic and diverse African experiences.

As Northwestern's humanities-themed residential college, Chapin fosters a humanities-focused community within the Evanston campus. Our many traditions are fun and productive ways to get to know each other and enjoy our time here, and our fellows mentor the residents and teach beyond the classroom.

College Feminists

College Feminists is the premier feminist and pro-choice organization on the Evanston Northwestern campus. We meet Mondays at 8pm at the Women's Center, discussing issues ranging from domestic violence to the college hook-up scene. We believe that every woman should be able to make her own decisions regarding abortion and birth control and we seek to educate students and the community at large about their rights to such decisions. We also work to counteract negative images of women and work against gender stereotyping. We believe in a progressive, informed, and open-minded community. We hope to accomplish these goals by rallying, supporting and educating one another in the Northwestern Community and also by creating a network with other college campuses nationwide.

CCS, Northwestern University’s first residential college, founded all the way back in 1972. Our majors range from art practice to journalism to engineering, but we share a love of diverse cultures and concern for our local and global communities.

EWB-USA supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders. Our Northwestern Student Chapter is currently partnered with My Chosen Vessels to bring clean water to the people of Kimuka, Kenya.

NU Community for Human Rights

Through programming events, seminars, exposure trips and the culminating conference, NUCHR provides a mechanism for critical discourse in order to challenge assumptions and broaden perceptions on international human rights issues at Northwestern and beyond. The three-day undergraduate student-organized conference unites student delegates from across the country with distinguished academics, activists and policy-makers from around the globe to address a unique aspect of human rights each year.

Peer Inclusion Educators (PIE) is a program out of Campus Inclusion & Community - Social Justice Education led by and for students. The Northwestern University SWE chapter, founded in 1976, includes graduate and undergraduate female and male engineers interested in making a change both on and off the campus. Slivka Residential College is Northwestern’s Science and Engineering Residential College. It was made possible via a gift from the Wissner-Slivka Foundation in 2000 and the construction was completed in 2002, making it the newest Residential College on campus.

Studio 22 Productions

Studio 22 Productions is Northwestern’s very own student-run film/video production company. Studio 22 exists to serve and challenge the film community in all aspects and to provide opportunities to experiment in filmmaking, as well as to develop networks with alumni and film professionals. We also provide educational opportunities via workshops and speakers, and we aim to introduce new filmmakers to student film. In essence, Studio 22 continually strives to promote education, ambition, and quality in Northwestern filmmakers.

Sustained Dialogue

Sustained Dialogue (SD) is a student-facilitated program that encourages conversation across lines of difference with other Northwestern students. In the past few years, discourses have altered and shifted, but the history of white supremacy that Northwestern was founded upon remains present on our campus whether we can all see it or not. It is our role as students to listen to each other, to change, to be changed, and to participate in change that goes beyond self-improvement and learning the language of diversity.

The Collective

The purpose of The Collective is to build community on campus through increased engagement with individuals who identify as Black men, regardless of their other salient identities. Knowing that the intersection of our Blackness and manhood often grant us power and privilege, we are constantly striving to acknowledge these benefits as we better understand how we, as Black men, both benefit and suffer from systems of oppression. We encourage our members to engage with this complexity and redefine black manhood in the process through self-reflection, education, and group dialogue.
