One Book Fellows

Bevy Daniel

Bevy Daniel

Hello! My name is Bevy, and I’m a senior at Northwestern from Mclean, Virginia, otherwise known as Outside DC. I'm majoring in Social Policy and International Studies with a Civic Engagement Certificate. On campus, I work as a tour guide (go cats!); write, direct, and perform for a neo-futurist inspired performance group called ’TBD’; and hang out on the lakefill drinking way too much coffee. I’m so excited to work with the other fellows towards unveiling hidden figures and narratives through this year’s One Book programming.

Yari Gallegos

Yari Gallegos

Graduate Assistant

Yari Gallegos is currently pursuing her Master’s in Higher Education Administration and Policy at Northwestern and is the graduate assistant for the One Book office, as well as the graduate intern for the Master’s in Higher Ed office. Yari is a Northwestern alumna and studied Human Development & Psychological Services. While at Northwestern, she served as a One Book Fellow for two years. She’s excited to be part of the One Book team for another year and is ready for a year of exciting programming!

Andrea Gouvea

Andrea Gouvea

My name is Andrea, I'm a senior majoring in Neuroscience (pre-med) and minoring in Creative Writing. I'm from, right here, in Evanston Illinois, and my family is from Brazil. On campus, I'm also a research assistant for a psychology/neuroscience lab and a swim instructor at the Northwestern Aquatic Center. In my free time, I love watching movies and eating too much chocolate. I am so excited to be a One Book Fellow this year and share the stories behind some of histories hidden figures.

Sadie Hood

Sadie Hood

I’m Sadie, a Senior studying Computer Science in Weinberg! This year I’m serving as a One Book One Northwestern Fellow working specifically with the One Book website. On campus, I’m involved in Alternative Student Breaks and a member of Women in Computing. Outside of school, I like to go dog spotting around Evanston, attempt to catch up on the latest Netflix originals, and bake vegan goodies.

Elaine Sobel

Elaine Sobel

I’m Elaine, and I’m a senior from Chicago (go Cubs!) studying biology and neuroscience.  At Northwestern, I participate in lab research, play on the club lacrosse team, and am a member of the Chi Omega sorority.  In my free time, I like to take walks and hang out on the lakefill. As a One Book Fellow this year, I’m very excited to help engage our school in dialogue about the extremely relevant and important topics in Hidden Figures.

Teresa Truong

Teresa Truong

I am Teresa Truong, and I am an incoming first-year from Suwanee, Georgia. I plan on studying environmental science and minoring in environmental policy and culture. I am excited to explore the Evanston/Chicago area, to try new restaurants and museums, and to become involved with Northwestern's community, starting with the One Book program!
Lucy Yang

Lucy Yang

Hi, my name is Lucy and I’m a senior studying Environmental Science and Comparative Literary Studies (with a minor in General Music!). I grew up in Lexington, Kentucky surrounded by fields and fields of bluegrass and bourbon. On campus, I’m an active social/environmental advocate and am a current member of GirlUp, Alternative Student Breaks, and the Chinese Students Association. In my free time, you can find me playing ukulele on the lakefill and trying all the strange and delicious food throughout the Chicagoland area. I’m so excited to be a One Book Fellow this year and bring you lots of thought-provoking and fun programming related to STEM and intersectional feminism!
