The mission of the Off-Campus Life office is to serve as the first point of contact for students moving and living off-campus. Our office has one constituency group - Northwestern students. We have multiple stakeholders with whom we communicate, coordinate, and refer around issues regarding students' rights, responsibilities, and resources.

While living off-campus can be a great experience, finding good housing can be challenging. But it's easy when you visit the Off-Campus Housing website! It's a FREE off-campus housing solution for Northwestern students, faculty, staff and other community members.

Sublet

To find a sublet, or to post one, use the Off-Campus Housing website! When you do so, be sure to think about these key items:
  • Check you lease, or with your landlord, for requirements/procedures before subletting.
  • Get the landlord’s permission to sublet in writing, if the landlord has the right to approve any sublessee. 
  • Seek to understand the costs: some landlords charge a fee to sublet.

Find a Roommate

Looking to be roommates with other NU students? Advertise the current room availability in your residence, view other students' room availability, or find someone also looking for a new place to live at the Off-Campus Housing website!

After finding a roommate, it’s important to discuss a wide range of topics before you sign the lease and move in together. Consider using the Roommate Checklist.
