Residential Summer Programs

Housing for Residential Summer Programs available June 22, 2025 – August 30, 2025  

Thank you for considering Northwestern University for your summer residential needs. Located in beautiful Evanston, just twelve miles north of downtown Chicago, the campus is home to multiple summer residential programs every year.  

From new facilities to old traditions, a close-knit community to cutting-edge resources, a college town vibe to big-city access, winding paths to beachfront views — Northwestern University offers a diverse array of experiences.

Styles Of Housing

• Traditional-style housing consists of a series of rooms and then a common bathroom. Social lounges and study space are available in designated places throughout the building. 
• Semi-suites consist of a cluster of rooms around a common room and a bathroom. There is not a suite door, but each lounge and sleeping room is accessed via a shared hallway, similar to the traditional style set-up. Semi-suite buildings have more bathrooms with fewer residents sharing each one compared to traditional style.  
• Suites consist of a cluster of rooms and a bathroom.  Select suites also include a common room while others include a common room and a kitchen. The bathroom(s) and other suite spaces are intended for exclusive use by residents in that suite and their guests. 

Regardless of the style of housing, the University provides one of each of the following per intended occupant in a sleeping room: 

• Twin bed with twin XL mattress 
• Desk 
• Desk chair 
• Closet or dresser 
• Wastebasket  

Buildings are cleaned prior to a group’s arrival. It is the responsibility of all summer guests to keep their sleeping clean. However, our custodial will staff perform daily cleaning of common areas and community bathrooms. 

Housing Options

Assignments are made based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to group size, age, and building availability. We will do our best to consider a groups housing preference as we make building assignments.

Residential Services does not bill guests individually. We will provide the program with an invoice after their stay has concluded.
