Returning Student Housing Selection

Returning residential undergraduate students are able to reserve a space in housing for the 2018-2019 academic year during the Winter and Spring 2018 quarters. In order to reserve a space, all students must complete the Contract Terms and Conditions between March 1 – 15, 2018. General Room Selection and Residential College placement will follow in April. Please see below for those details.

TWO-YEAR RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
All rising sophomores are required to live on campus.  Rising sophomores who intend to live in a greek house as part of the residency requirement are still required to complete a housing contract.  After your greek house assignment has been verified before the fall 2018 quarter, your housing contract will be cancelled for no charge.
GENDER OPEN HOUSING

Gender Open Housing allows students, regardless of sex, gender, or gender identity, to share a room or suite. You will be able to select Gender-Open Housing as a preference in the housing contracting process.  For the 2018-19 school year, the locations of Gender Open Housing are as follows:

560 Lincoln, Kemper Hall, & Foster-Walker

RESIDENCE HALL AND COMMUNITIES: ROOM SELECTION PROCESS

Once the Contract Terms and Conditions are signed, each resident will be able to select where they would like to live. Each resident will be given a priority number which will allow the selection of room and roommates. Below are the steps of the room selection process:

  1. Sign the Housing Contract Terms and Conditions

For students currently residing in University housing, a 2018-19 Residential Services housing contract must be signed in order to begin the housing self-assignment process. (This includes all students currently living in a residential college, residential community, residence hall, and all exclusive-use buildings/floors/wings). To sign the housing contract, returning students may go online beginning Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Contract signing will conclude Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. Please note the following:

  • NetID and password are required to access this page and residents will be asked to provide some basic information.
  • Students contracting for a space in University housing will be held to the terms and conditions of the housing contract, and all applicable cancellation fees.
  1. Obtain your randomly generated priority number

On April 12, 2018, returning students who signed the 2018-2019 University housing contract will be issued priority numbers via email, if required.

  • First Priority: Any rising sophomore, junior, or senior, currently living in University housing. The priority numbers will be randomly generated within this priority group and distributed accordingly.
  • Second Priority: Those students currently living off-campus or in the Greek houses will be awarded second priority. The priority numbers will also be randomly generated and distributed accordingly.

*SPECIAL NOTICE FOR RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE, RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY, AND EXCLUSIVE USE STUDENTS: Students who indicate that they will be returning to their residential colleges, or their exclusive-use buildings/units/units as of Thursday, April 12, 2018, will not be issued priority numbers. Priority numbers are not necessary for participation in the in-house assignment process for these living units.

  1. Select Your Room

After reviewing your priority number, you will need to determine your choice of residence halls, rooms and roommates.

  • Discuss your preferences with all parties involved and make sure that everyone in your group has read over this information.
  • Make a list of your choices of where you choose to live and with whom.
  • It is in your best interest to identify a roommate(s) in order to make the best use of your priority number.
  • Students without roommates choosing an assignment to University housing will be accommodated after those with roommate choices are assigned, at the conclusion of the assignment process.

If you intend to live with a specific roommate(s), you will need to set a “roommate passcode” through the selection website in order for you to be pulled in by a controlling priority number. Those with controlling priority numbers will need the NetID and roommate passcode for those within the roommate/suitemate group in order to pull them in to the space.

Beginning on Monday, April 16, 2018, and concluding on Friday, April 20, 2018, priority groups will be permitted to access the Room Selection website. Access to the Room Selection website will be available between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the published dates only.

  • The controlling priority number will be making the room selection and booking all rooms for the members of the roommate/suitemate group.

At the successful completion of this process, you and your roommate group will have contracted for a specific on-campus housing room assignment for the 2018-2019 academic year.
