Baking Fundamentals (6 weeks)

This fun and interactive series will introduce you to fundamental baking concepts, skills, and techniques that will boost your baking confidence. This workshop is "hands-on", and everyone will take part in practicing techniques and preparing recipes. Students will work in teams, so you will benefit from everyone's shared passion for baking. Whether you are completely new to baking or are more experienced and looking for some new tips and tricks, you'll learn skills that will nurture your creativity and provide a lifetime of joy. No prior baking experience is necessary. Come prepared to learn, laugh, have fun... and maybe get a little messy. 

Cake Decorating 101 (6 weeks)

This course is perfect for the aspiring cake decorator looking to learn the basics of this fun and creative craft. In this beginner's course, you will be introduced to various frosting types as well as how to crumb coat a cake and how to frost a smooth cake with buttercream. You will learn how to prepare and fill a pastry bag and how to use a pastry bag, assorted icing tips and buttercream to pipe basic flowers, borders, shells and leaves. Each class will include demonstrations and plenty of practice time. Throughout the course, the instructor will demonstrate various tools that can make cake decorating easier and even more fun. 


Mixology (5 weeks)

  • Tuesdays, 9:15 - 10:15 PM, January 23 - February 20

Hosting a cocktail party? Just trying to expand from the usual rum and coke? Mixology masters will teach you recipes and demonstrate the drink-mixing techniques you need to improve your creations. Students are encouraged to taste the drinks made by classroom assistants. Attendees must have a valid government-issued ID to enter each class meeting.


Wine Appreciation (5 weeks)

Instructor: Mark Gruber

  • Section A: Tuesdays, 7:30-9:00 PM, January 23 - February 20
  • Section B: Thursdays, 7:30-9:00 PM, January 25 - March 1*
  • *Please note this Mini Course will not meet on February 15th

In this five week class you will develop a working knowledge of six wines per class. The course includes wine tasting, grape variety, vintages, wine storage, and wine/food complements. Your course comes with a complimentary sampling of the wines. Please  bring two wine glasses to class. Attendees must have a valid government-issued ID to enter each class meeting.

Wine O'Clock (5 weeks)

  • Thursdays, 9:15-10:15 PM, January 25 - March 1
  • Fee: $111 NU/$121 Public

This course will help you develop your knowledge by introducing students to newer and rarer labels. The course comes with complimentary sampling of the wines discussed. Please bring two wine glasses to class. Attendees must have a valid government-issued ID to enter each class meeting.
