Our Commitment to Students with Disabilities
Northwestern University and the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) are committed to providing a supportive and challenging environment for all undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students with disabilities who attend the University. Additionally, the University and SSD work to provide students with disabilities a learning and community environment that affords them full participation, equal access, and reasonable accommodation of their disabilities. The majority of accommodations and services for students with disabilities are coordinated by SSD.
Getting Around Our Website
Just as we want you to have a gratifying experience working with our office, we aim to provide a website that is well-organized, detailed, accessible, helpful, and easy-to-use. For instance, click on any picture on our site to get an enlarged view. To get an overview of the layout of our website, please visit our detailed sitemap, which appears in the footer of every page.
For ease of browsing, the website for SSD is divided into four main categories:
- Getting to Know the Office
- Information for Students
- Accommodations and Services
- Information for Faculty
For more detail about each of these categories, please visit the links above or the navigation box. A few additional notes about navigation boxes:
- There will be a navigation box in the same place on every page in our site.
- Each box will highlight pages within the particular category you are browsing.
You may also find it helpful to use the "breadcrumbs" near the top of the page (underneath the banner, described below) that provide a history/organization of the pages that came before the one you're currently browsing.
To assist you in navigating between categories, there is a banner of pictures across the top of every page in this site. The banner consists of pictures that correspond to each of the four site's categories plus two that correspond to the most frequently accessed links (Test Request & Accommodation Forms and Documentation Guidelines). Most of our forms are online for browsers' convenience.
