CAPS Supports Campus Community After Death of Student
When we lose a member of our campus community, we all are affected.  The CAPS staff was very saddened to hear about the death of Dmitri Teplov.  We stand ready to support our community on the path toward healing.  We have provided a handout on Grief and Coping to a Sudden Death.  This flyer provides some advice about and common reactions to sudden deaths.  We hope that you look at it and reach out for help from CAPS or others to get support.  The University Chaplain’s Office is also another great resource for students.

Welcome to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Housed within the Division of Student Affairs and with offices on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses, CAPS serves as the primary mental health service at Northwestern University. CAPS provides a set of core services, including clinical services, educational workshops, and consultation with faculty, staff, and parents. CAPS' mission is to assist all students in developing healthy minds and balanced lives, allowing them to overcome obstacles and achieve their academic and personal goals.

How to Make An Appointment

For services on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses, please call (847) 491-2151 to schedule an initial phone consultation with a counselor. The phone consultation lasts approximately 15 minutes and will usually occur on the same day you call. The counselor will collect some information from you and help connect you with the services most appropriate for your needs. You may be scheduled for an intake at CAPS or connected with other resources on campus and/or in the community.

Please contact us for additional information about our clinical services.
