Maria Hackett

Access Coordinator

Access Coordinator

As an Access Coordinator for AccessibleNU, Maria looks forward to finding equitable and creative ways of meeting accessibility needs for students with accommodations at Northwestern University. A Brooklyn native, Maria is passionate about centering the needs of under-represented populations and bearing witness to the gifts of intentional community.

Prior to joining the Northwestern community, Maria served as Washington College’s Disability Access Specialist, Yale University's Accommodations Manager, and Transition Associate for the Parent Information Center of Delaware.

An ardent lover of engaging black diasporic literature, cross cultural language engagement, and liturgical curation, Maria is proud of her academic roots, having earned an MA in Religion from Yale Divinity School and a BA in Russian from the University of Rochester.

During her free time, Maria enjoys kicking back with her partners in crime (aka her cats, Fig and Fern), reading poetry, and spending quality time with her loved ones. Ask her about her love for octopuses and her Bajan heritage!
