Students

The Qatar Support Office works closely with departments at NU-Q to support Evanston students traveling to Qatar for semester study, spring break, and journalism residencies.

Semester in Qatar (SiQ)

NU-Q hosts Northwestern Evanston communication and journalism students during the fall semester (August-December).

Spring Break in Qatar

Northwestern Evanston students in the School of Communication, Medill School of Journalism, and Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences are eligible to apply for the spring break trip in Qatar.

Students receive invitations to apply directly from their respective schools. Each school chooses students to participate using criteria determined by the school. NU-Q is not involved in the selection process, but the QSO is available to answer applicants’ questions about the program.

Journalism Residencies

The QSO works with NU-Q to provide support to Medill School of Journalism students traveling to Qatar for their journalism residency.

Other student travel

The QSO is a resource to Northwestern Qatar and Evanston students who travel between the two campuses for purposes other than those listed above.

When possible, NU-Q and the QSO will support students traveling to Qatar or Evanston for academic, research, and extra-curricular purposes. Reasons for travel may include film screenings, reporting, faculty-led research, student organization initiatives, etc.
