Welcome to the start of something new!

Welcome to Northwestern!

You've been through the beginning process before, so we're aiming to build on that and help welcome you to a new community and a new start. As you get ready to start Northwestern, you'll find some helpful resources and info on this website.

Find important dates below, and navigate to other sections of the Transfer Students portion of the website to find an archive of publications, info about transfer student orientation, and more.

June 2018

This is the month you'll receive the details on what you need to do and know over the summer.! A few items you'll be getting in June 2018:

  • Purple Prep for Transfer Students- An online booklet that outlines what you need to do and know over the summer (an important read, to say the least)
  • March to the Arch emails- This monthly email comes the first Tuesday of each month beginning in June; this email gives you more info and updates on items you need to be completing that month that you see listed out in Purple Prep
  • Transfer Student Facebook Group- This is the place to start meeting other incoming transfer students, and to ask questions from current students (Transfer Peer Advisers and the Director for the Transfer Experience on NSFP's Board of Directors)

May 3-June 10, 2018

Registration for POP (Pre-Orientation Programs) is open only during this time to incoming students. Learn more about each of the POP experiences (such as camping, hiking, Chicago emersion, service, etc) that occur immediately preceding Wildcat Welcome in September, for students who wish to attend a program in addition to the weeklong Wildcat Welcome program.

Transfer Peer Adviser: To help get you started at Northwestern, you are placed into a group with 15 other incoming transfer students led by a Transfer Peer Adviser. This returning student also previously transferred to Northwestern and will be a great resource as you get ready to start, during Wildcat Welcome, and throughout your first year on the Evanston campus. Your Peer Adviser will reach out via email in mid-July.

International Student Orientation (ISO): With a focus on matters like immigration and medical insurance, as well as advice on acclimating to US academic culture and life in Evanston, ISO is the mandatory September 18–21 orientation program that Northwestern provides for incoming international students before Wildcat Welcome. Registration for ISO is required and available through August 1. Go to the International Officewebsite to register, learn more about ISO’s content, and get instructions for obtaining an F-1 or J-1 student visa. Participants will move into their residence hall on September 18.
